GigPics Privacy Policy

The GigPics Privacy Policy is actually quite simple. In short, we will never pass your details on to any other party and the details you supply to us will only be used for the administration of your GigPics account.

We do not store any information about you other than the following:

For all users (this information is stored in a 'cookie'.)

Which pictures you have rated (we do not associate your ratings with you in any way)

For registered contributors only (this information is stored in a 'cookie'.)

Login details - only if you choose to be automatically logged in on return visits.
Date last logged in.

For registered contributors only (this information is stored in our online database.)

Your GigPics contributor account details (GigPics username, GigPics password, email address etc).

For users of our eCards service only (this information is stored in our online database.)

Your email address and name as supplied in the eCard form, the email addresses of the recipients of your eCard, and the content of the message you send.
In addition to this we will also store the IP address of the computer from which you are connected when sending the eCard, and the time according to our server that you send the eCard. This information is stored to enable abuse complaints to be investigated.

Any information stored that has been described here is considered as having been volounteered by your use of GigPics.
No information which is stored can be used to identify you as a person, individual or entity. The exception to this is any information you choose to volounteer as part of your contributor profile. Contributor profiles are 'free-form' descriptions of the contributor and as such are wholy volounteered information and beyond the direct control of GigPics.

Band Alerts

GigPics Band Alerts is a facility which allows GigPics to inform users by email when a new picture is uploaded of particular bands. The user chooses which bands they wish to receive alerts for, and this is known as a Band Alert subscription.
For registered contributors, this list of Band Alert subscriptions is stored with your GigPics contributor id, for non-contributors (ie any other GigPics users) this information is stored with the email address you supply when subscribing to a Band Alert.
Your choice of band(s) is never divulged to any third party, although it should be noted that the Band Alert subscriptions of non-contributors may be viewed and removed by anyone visiting the GigPics site and entering the email address of that subscriber. (For this reason we recommend users sign up to GigPics to gain password protection of their Band Alert subscriptions).

Cookies

Internet cookies have received a lot of bad press recently, but really Cookies themselves are nothing to be afraid of, and they do in fact enhance your internet browsing experience. It is the way some internet sites choose to use cookies that should be of concern.
GigPics uses cookies only to improve your use of GigPics. We do not store any personal information about you in the cookies. Only the information listed above is stored.

Some things we DO NOT store

We do not store things like your email address (except when you sign up as a contributor).
We do not store your browsing history (eg which pictures you have viewed etc) except for pictures you have rated as stated above.
We do not store length of time spent on GigPics
We do not store where you surf to next, or any historic browsing information that your browser is capable of supplying (except that our servers http logs may store the address of the site that you used to link to GigPics).

Our advertisers

GigPics carries advertising. We try to ensure that the advertisers we use have a reasonable privacy policy, but this is something that is essentially out of our control. To this end we try to advertise only reputable companies to help protect your privacy.
That said, GigPics cannot be held responsible for any data that our advertisers may store about you.

This privacy policy constitutes part of our Terms and Conditions, and as such may be ammended or added to without notice. We assure you, however, that the spirit of this policy will remain unchanged, and that we aim to protect your privacy online in so much as we can.
